Salespeople call me all the time asking me to subscribe. On this morning, someone from The Herald Tribune called. A reference from a friend apparently. Thanks. “Why wouldn’t I want a 2 week subscription, for free?” No thanks, I said. I don’t like newspapers. I hate how it sits there, beside the one from yesterday, and the day before that. Lined up like soldiers begging me, screaming at me to read them. Then they turn into a mountain I have to jump over to get out the front door. I get my news from the paper-free Internet instead (I do read JPost.com), and buy the paper only on Fridays –– for Shabbat.
