Big bands are unfortunately expensive to run and operate, but listening to them live is an incomparable experience. As someone who knew them up close (I was fortunate enough to sing with them on several occasions), I can attest that the HED big band was run as a thoroughly professional venture with dedicated, top notch musicians and leadership. They provided memorable performances for thousands of delighted fans. What a shame that Yehuda Cohen was not able to find support to keep this cadre of talented and committed new immigrant musicians together!
