KB,On the bright side, the US will no doubt presadsure Israel to hold off as long as posadsiadble, bscuaee a guaradanadteed outadcome of an attack on Iranadian nuclear faciladiadties would be more comadpliadcaadtions in Iraq. In any case the use of nuclear weapons is very unlikely. They are not necessary.Any attack on Iran would have to be widely spread. Israel might be happy blastading air defense and nuclear sites, but that wouldn’t be enough. Any attack would have to limit Iran’s abiladity to retaladiadate against obviadous taradgets. Even if the US had no intenadtion of paradticadiadpatading, we would have to assume that Iran would strike US interadests in gulf, and peradhaps interadnaadtional shipadping in the straits. This means, we would have to attack Iran to neuadtraladize their capaadbiladiadties even if we do not want to attack Iran. Crazy — huh? We would have to destroy the Iranadian airadforce and navy almost immeaddiadately. We would have to destroy its short/medium range baladlisadtic misadsile assets, comadmand and conadtrol,a0etc.It is quite complicated.Iran is pushading for danadgeradous nuclear capaadbiladiadties at the same time they puradsue a poladicy whose goal is to destroy Israel, a UN memadber. They are doing this against the interadnaadtional comadmuadnity. Israel could act uniadlataderadally knowading the US would have to supadport their misadsion just to defend US/allied bases/international shipadping in thea0gulf.Let’s look at things pragadmatadiadcally. While Iran probadaadbly won’t turn into Beladgium over night, they could be presadsured to noradmaladize relaadtions with Israel (in word and deed) as a means of reducading tenadsions. They could also postadpone enrichadment work for a set period of time, like 5–10 years, whereadupon a new assessadment would be made. There are sevaderal offers on the table that would proadvide Iran with enriched uraadnium for peaceadful puradposes at far less than the cost of doing it themadselves (espeadcially if you conadsider the biladlions they have invested in infraadstrucadture and experadtise may well be destroyed). There is a way out but if Iran insists on rubadbing everyone’s noses in it while they puradsue an overtly hosadtile poladicy with Israel, there could well be trouadble for everyadone. Is Iran capaadble of comadproadmise? Will the interadnaadtional comadmuadnity take a uniadfied stand (minus politadiadcal posadturading) that conadsidaders the real pracadtiadcal issues ata0stake?waradmonadgers in Israel and thea0USThat is a typadiadcally naive comadment. Rather than blame the US or espeadcially Israel, try to underadstand that the Israelis have no reaadson whatadsoadever to expect anyadthing but the worst from Iran. The Iranadian Presadiaddent does supadport the destrucadtion of Israel as a nation. Can it be morea0plain???The interadnaadtional comadmuadnity, if it wants to, has more than enough clout and diploadmatic leveradage to setadtle this issue peaceadfully. Let them do it. Don’t just blame the US. Every day that goes by is another day the interadnaadtional comadmuadnity is failading to resolve this grave issue. If they fail, or fail to even try, then they are also responadsiadble. Show us what you’ve got KB! Its youra0show.

it was abhorrent, they have a right to dticate the way one should act in their own neighborhood. If I walked into a conservative mosque, I would certainly wear a burka if that was what was expected of me. It is about respecting customs. I believe that the Haredi do need to learn to respect secular customs but we also need to learn to respect their customs. The way you paint them may breed more enmity than it will mutual respect. I believe that it isn't a battle for Jerusalem, that sounds so violent. It is a peaceful struggle for mutual understanding that I seek and I hope that this is what you seek too. The hard part is getting the Haredi community to see that the secular community has a right to its values as well. I have faith that there is a way to do this. However, I know that painting them as an enemy of all secular society is not a step towards mutual understanding.
